One of our specially trained Pest Management Professionals (PMP) will inspect high risk areas within your home for bed bugs, including headboards, nightstands, bed frames, mattresses, box springs, furniture, and walls. He will be able to identify and confirm whether you have bed bugs or not, and recommend a course of action for what he finds.

Smaller and more difficult to locate infestations can be sniffed out with our canine inspection teams. The teams are made up of licensed Pest Management Professionals and specially trained dogs, whose sense of smell is up to 100,000 times more sensitive than a human’s. The canines are able to smell out live bed bugs and their viable eggs with up to 97% accuracy according to some studies. At Adam's, we have four certified dog teams and two dogs - Marvin, The Bed Bug Beagle and Hector, The Bed Bug Detector.

While Marvin and Hector may do most of the work, the PMP will confirm the presence of bed bugs before any treatment is ordered. Unlike some pest companies that reward their dogs for indicating a bed bug, Adam’s only rewards its dogs when there is supporting evidence of bed bugs. This practice helps keep our dogs honest and effective.

Adam’s has two of the four NESDCA certified bed bug detection dogs in Minnesota. The National Entomology Scent Detection Canine Association has the highest standards of evaluation in a pass/fail examination. We are proud of Marvin and Hector for passing the grueling tests.

• Adult bed bugs are dull, reddish brown in color
• Approximately 3/16” to 1/4” in length
• Flattened bodies from top to bottom
• Fully engorged bed bugs have elongated and swollen body
• Bed bugs have a very distinctive sweet or musty odor
• Eggs are white, approximately 1/32” long
• Nymphs are nearly colorless when hatched, becoming brownish as they mature.
• Also look for located by the presence of small reddish-brown to black fecal deposits on bedding or walls
