Bed Bug Services

Due to the cryptic and resilient nature of bed bugs, eliminating them from homes can be challenging, particularly in heavy infestations. Bed bugs have been found hiding in hard to reach places, such as ceiling fixtures, cracks and voids. To overcome these demanding situations, Pest Management Professionals (PMP's) have had to fumigate beds, furniture, furnishings, and in some severe cases, the entire structure.

Adam's Pest Control has established a comprehensive bed bug elimination strategy that includes up-to-date bed bug technical information and training for our technicians. We are committed to maintain a high standard of bed bug best management practices and share our knowledge and experiences with other leading bed bug experts across the nation.

Inspection

The key to effectively treating bed bugs is finding all of their hiding places. Adam's offers two types of inspections: Pest Management Professional (PMP) Inspections and Canine Inspections. A PMP Inspection consists of an Adam's A-Team member visiting the suspect area, interviewing the customer, and inspecting high risk areas for bed bugs. Examples of these high risk bed bug areas included: headboards, nightstands, bed frames, mattresses, box springs, furniture, dressers, etc.

Canine Inspections include one of our four NESDCA certified canine teams (licensed PMP plus dog) searching the suspect area. Dogs sense of smell is up to 100,000 times better than a human's. Our canines are able to smell out live bed bugs and any viable eggs with up to 97% accuracy, according to some studies. A Canine Inspection is quick and accurate. On average, it can take as little as 15 minutes versus a PMP inspection, which may take up to two hours. Canine inspections are particularly helpful in large commercial settings like apartments, theaters, nursing homes, and hospitals. They can also be helpful in detecting small or early infestations of bed bugs in homes. At Adam's, we have four certified dog teams and two dogs - Marvin The Bed Bug Beagle and Hector The Bed Bug Detector.

PMP Inspection fee is $49*

Canine Inspection fee is $199*

*Inspection Fee is applied towards cost of treatment. Listed Inspection Fees do not include travel fees outside of the Twin City Metro Area. Travel fees are not applied towards treatment.

Heat Treatment

As Minnesota’s leading bed bug experts, Adam's Pest Control has the expertise and equipment to completely rid your property of bed bugs regardless of the size or location of the infestation. The Adam’s A-Team is a dedicated bed bug response unit that performs heat treatments at multiple sites almost every day. Our specially trained, licensed professionals use the most effective industry-leading treatment techniques to kill all life stages of bed bug including eggs, which are the most resilient.

What is a Heat Treatment? A Heat Treatment is an application of heat, where the temperature of the space, its contents, and most importantly the target pest is raised to a leathal temperature.

We have heat treated houses, town homes, apartments, dorms, hospital delivery rooms, ambulances and police cars, flour rooms, and more!

Adam's is proud to have partnered with Temp-Air, a local and leading supplier heat equipment. Together, we heat treated the first apartment in Minnesota for bed bugs back in November 2006.

And Adam's maintains the largest variety of heat equipment in Minnesota, meaning we have the right combination of heaters and electric power generators to efficiently treat any infestation, regardless of size, in one treatment. The number of heaters and generators needed can vary depending on the structure size, construction type, and other factors. With a dedicated team of licensed professionals, and enough equipment to not have a long backlog, Adam's keeps one step ahead of our competition - and the target pests!

Heat Chamber

Adam's also has a unique Heat Chamber, where we can perform heat treatments on personal belongings infested with bed bugs. We are the only pest control company in Minnesota with such a Heat Chamber. In 2005, we designed it into our new building. It can reach lethal temperatures within 20 minutes and can easily do multiple treatments each day. Heat chambers are very useful for heat treating objects, such as furniture or beds. It can be particularly useful for people moving from one place to another who suspect they had bed bugs and don't want to bring the bed bugs with them. (For example, college students moving home.) It is also useful to treat any used furniture before you bring it into your home to make sure your are not also bringing in bed bugs. Heat chambers treatments work well on mattresses, clothes, furniture, and other objects that should not be treated with pesticides. But remember, heat chamber treatments do not address the structure itself, so moving heat treated furniture back into an infested apartment or space will likely result in it getting reinfested unless the bed bugs in that space are addressed as well.

Conventional Treatment

Pesticides specifically tested and proved adequate to eradicate bed bugs are used by Adam's. Often liquid treatments are used on surfaces and dusts are applied in void areas.

A recent study at Purdue University concluded that successful eradication of bed bugs using pesticides requires at least two (2) visits, with considerable time needed to inspect and treat the area, but some infestations may require four or more applications. At Adam's, our standard protocol is to come out three (3) times. We inspect and treat on the first two (2) visits, and on the third visit we inspect and if needed, treat. These treatments are spacing 2 to 3 weeks apart, which is sufficient for any eggs to hatch out (typically 10-14 days).
