Why Get A Heat Treatment?

Okay. You already know you have bed bugs. Now you’re trying to figure out the best way to get rid of them. Someone has told you that a heat treatment will do the trick, but you have absolutely no idea what a heat treatment is or why it is the best way to kill these pests. If that sounds about right; you’re in luck. Today we’re going to be asking the question, “Why get a heat treatment?”

Bed bugs love the heat. When it gets hot, they start breeding like crazy. So, why on earth would you want to give them more of it? Well, there is actually such a thing as too much of a good thing. As it turns out, a constant temperature of around 115°F actually kills bed bugs. Not just the adult bugs, but larvae and eggs too. That is why pest control companies have turned to heat as an effective way to eradicate these blood-eating pests.

Not only is heat a good way to kill bed bugs, but it is also the “best” way to kill them. Here are some of the many reasons:

1. Kills All Life Stages
Heat treatment eliminates bed bugs at all stages of life — eggs, nymphs, and adults — in one treatment. Many other methods struggle to kill the eggs.

2. Chemical-Free and Eco-Friendly
Heat treatment does not rely on pesticides or chemicals, making it safer for people, pets, and the environment.

3. Penetrates Hidden Areas
Heat can reach bed bugs hiding deep in cracks, crevices, mattresses, furniture, and wall voids — places that chemical sprays may not fully reach.

4. Fast and Immediate Results
Unlike some treatments that require multiple visits, heat treatment often eliminates infestations in a single day.

5. No Residual Odors or Damage
Heat treatment leaves no chemical residues or unpleasant odors behind. When done properly, it won’t damage furniture or belongings.

6. Reduced Risk of Reinfestation
By killing all life stages in one go, heat reduces the chance of surviving bugs that could repopulate.

7. Minimizes Resistance Issues
Bed bugs have developed resistance to many pesticides. Heat works through physical means, so resistance is not a problem.

8. Professional and Thorough
Professional heat treatments are performed by trained technicians who monitor temperatures carefully to ensure complete extermination.

At Adams Pest Control, we use a combination of treatment options that scale up depending on the level of infestation. Small or confined infestations can be sniffed out by our bed bug canine inspectors and dealt with quickly and discreetly using a targeted use of chemicals. But, when bed bugs have taken over, it is time to turn on the heat

If you’re fighting bed bugs, our dedicated bed bug response unit is on the street at multiple sites every day. They know these bugs, and they know exactly what is necessary to eradicate them.
